🌑 The Mechanic: Investigation in the "Hard Fog"
In Blackout Detective, the canvas is covered in a thick, impenetrable "Hard Fog."
The lines do not disappear. Every stroke the artist makes remains on the canvas permanently, but they are completely hidden from view. To "see" the drawing, you must navigate the darkness using limited light sources. It's not about watching a drawing happen—it's about finding where the drawing is.
📂 Your Roles
1. The Witness (The Artist)
You are the only person who knows the truth, but you're working in total darkness.
- The Challenge: You can only see the tiny "hole" in the fog directly under your pen as you draw.
- The Faulty Lightbulb: To keep you from getting lost, the "interrogation room" light is a bit broken. Every 5 seconds, the bulb will flicker and strobe, giving you a split-second "Mental Snapshot" of the entire canvas. Use that flash to check your alignment before the darkness returns!
2. The Detective (The Guesser)
You are on the scene, and the search is in your hands.
- Spotlight Agency: You aren't a passive observer. You control your own personal spotlight. Move your mouse or touch your screen to "scan" the dark canvas for the Witness's hidden lines.
- Smart Tracking: If you get lost, simply stop moving your mouse. After a brief moment, your light will automatically "snap" to the Witness's current position so you can get back on the trail.
📡 The Forensic Toolkit
Detectives don't go into a blackout without gear. To help you piece the puzzle together, you have three powerful gadgets at your disposal:
- 📡 Radar Sweep: Send a 360-degree ping across the canvas. Every hidden line will "glow" for a moment, revealing the overall shape.
- 🎞️ X-Ray Scan: Run a vertical laser from top to bottom, revealing a high-contrast horizontal "slice" of the evidence as it passes.
- 🔦 High-Beam: Overload your flashlight for 5 seconds, doubling your vision radius to inspect complex details.
Note: Each gadget can only be used once per round. Use your forensics wisely!
👥 Private Cases: Bring Your Own Squad
While you can jump into public matchmaking anytime, Blackout Detective is now available for Private Rooms. Want to see which of your friends has the best spatial memory? Or who is the most coordinated detective? You can now toggle "Blackout Detective" on in any private room settings. It's the perfect way to add some high-tension mystery to your next game night.
🚪 How to Enter the Scene
Ready to start your first investigation?
- Public Play: Look for the "Top Secret" Case File banner on the Drawize home screen (occupying the space where the Daily Prize Draw used to live).
- Private Play: Head to Private Rooms and select the "Blackout Detective" mode in the room settings.
If it's your first time on the case, we'll provide a quick Confidential Briefing to get you up to speed.
🧥 Case Closed
Blackout Detective turns every round into a "Reveal." There is a unique thrill in scanning a dark corner and suddenly finding a hidden piece of the puzzle. It rewards detectives who are curious and witnesses who can draw with a steady hand in the dark.
The case is open. The fog is thick. Can you and your friends solve it?
